lol, classic diaz move. love those kids.
WOW someone who can actually make Frank look like a nice guy. Both are good fighters but in this case I hope Frank KTFO Diaz. On the flip side I hope Diaz sports the OTM equipment.
Whats the history?
I will not argue that Frank is an ass in the way he acts and talks about people. In the first match of Ken vs Royce, Ken lost (I believe to a guillotine choke, not 100% sure). The second match was boring. When Frank fought Renzo he was obviously affraid of Renzo's ground game and took cheap shots at him and made up the worst excuses "I just came here to fight."
So I understand the anger between the two groups. With that said lets look at the Diaz brothers. Flipping off KJ Noons (Sp) and pushing his father. Yeah I think KJ ducked him the second time. Or how about all of the other fights where they are seen flipping off the crowd. Well here is another picture and Nate is doing what the Diaz brothers like to do, flip people off.
The Diaz brothers can fight really well, and they could be super cool guys for all that I know. I am judging them strickly on how I see them act over and over again. Then again I am judging Frank the same way. Still looking to watch the fight. Just my two cents worth.
it was a rear naked choke.
Nick never pushed KJ's father. Nick had just beat Muhsin Corbbrey right before KJ beat Yves Edwards, so the EliteXC asked Nick to enter the cage to hype up the rematch. Nick said to man up and give him the rematch, since the first fight had a controversial ending. instead of being a man, KJ tried to punk Nick by asking a partisan Hawaiian crowd if Nick deserved a rematch. then KJ's father started being a douche by talking shit along with KJ. Nate stuck up for his brother and flipped off KJ and his dad for talking shit instead of accepting the rematch. KJ's dad tried to charge Nate and a melee ensued. KJ and his father were the ones who started the shit talk and the melee.
that isn't Nate. that is Nick flipping off a dude that has been talking shit about him, his instructor, and the Gracie's for years.
the Diaz brothers are consistent with their actions. what you see is what you get. you wanna be cool, they will be cool. you wanna talk shit, they will talk shit right back. they are true to themselves and what they believe in and there's nothing wrong with that. i wish more people were that honest.
Thanks for the corrections. Could not remember the type of choke used. Yeah it is Nick I should have looked closer at the picture. I do think KJ ducked Diaz that night. I can see hyping up a fight for the fans. I feel that the Diaz brothers come across too ghetto. Having worked in the ghetto I do not care for the ghetto attitude, rather you came from there or not. I do not care for Frank either as I think he talks alot of shit. I guess I can not lose watching this fight as someone is going to lose.
Thanks for the explanation.
I did not know Cesar was not a MMA fighter in his day!? Even more impressive IMO that he can produce SO many top, top fighters!!
I have never cared for the BS attitude of the Shamrocks. They are a disgrace, but so are many who fight in MMA. As for the Diaz brothers.... I agree with Overcat, they are consistent and true to themselves. While I agree it is refreshing to see, I can do without the "ghetto-tude" Kibun stated as well! They would be SO much more powerful without the antics.
Overall the "Gracie name" has too much ego attached to it. I like what the old timers such as Helio and Rickson say about the warrior spirit and what not. But they all seem to quickly contradict those statements when they start talking about "Gracie this.... Gracie that." Maybe it is just Brazilian machismo, I don't know. But overall I get tired of hearing every testosterone fueled comment started with "Gracie...."
Thanks for answering the question though. Going to be a kick ass fight no matter!
Jake
You gotta love the Diaz brothers they just tell it like it is. If you meet them at a BJJ tournament they are always really cool guys. That being said if you are from Stockton you just don't take any shit from anybody especially a pretty boy like Frank.
