Bobby Green Set to Return to the Cage

Bobby Green was on a hot streak in the UFC after transferring over from he dead Strikeforce promotion. He had won four straight and looked set tot fight for the promotions title before its demise. Then he came to the UFC and immediately made his presence known. He made himself known to fans of the Octagon as he submitted the often hated Jacob Volkmann and sent him packing from the UFC.

Next, he took out the likes of Pat Healy, James Krause and Josh Thompson to earn himself a slot near the top five. Unfortunately in NovemberĀ of 2014, he ran into the Brazilian wrecking ball known as Edson Barboza who he lost a decision to. A few failed fights due to injuries in 2015 and now he is set to return to the cage against former Featherweight Dustin Poirier.

Poirier was a tough 145 pound fighter and ranked within the top five, but a knockout loss to Conor McGregor and the loss of IV rehydration and he was sent packing to 155. Nothing changed though as the Southern boy thrived in his new weight class taking out two opponents by knockout and then facing off with former McGregor destroyer Joe Duffy in his next fight. They were supposed to fight last year but injuries moved it to the new year where Poirier took a unanimous decision nod. Now, he has a chance to beat a former top five lightweight while Green has a chance to recapture his momentum. Who will come out on top? Only time and a trip to the Octagon will tell as these two face off in June at UFC 199.
