About Me:

    I first started training in martial arts in Stockton, CA at Bahala Na #1, where I learned the Filipino martial art Escrima under Grandmaster Leo Giron. I then lost my first tournament to a kid named Barney. It took me 10 more years before I recovered enough to pick up martial arts. I started out practicing Muay Thai and decided to take one of those grappling classes. Since then I haven't looked back. I jumped over to 10th planet after a few months of training, partially because of the commute, but mostly because I loved no-gi (started in Luta Livre) and my gym decided it was switching most of its classes to Gi. Also I had lost every no-gi tournament I entered, every match in fact, all on advantages.  I still think I am trying to overcome my first loss to Barney. Lucky for me Denny is a great coach, I believe in the 10th Planet system, and I'm studying Hajime No Ippo to get my mind right for competition. I've done slightly better, grabbing a few silvers and bronzes at local tournaments and earning my blue. Still no gold, still losing those pesky finals matches on 0-0 advantages, and I blame Barney.
