Background:
I am from Harrisburg, PA. I wrestled for a short time in high school. Took Karate lessons and Kung Fu lessons as a kid, but never really in any serious way.
 I began JKD training in the mid 90's here in California with Cass Magda at the Magda institute in Reseda. While introduced to Indonesian Silat at the school, I once again became intrigued with ground fighting. Like many others, I saw Royce Gracie fight in the UFC and became even more interested in ground work. I met J. J. Machado and Rigan at an event and I was invited to train at the the school. I got tooled several times and signed up the very next day!
 I have been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fairly consistently for almost 14 years now. I achieved Purple belt while training at The J.J. Machado school in Tarzana. I received my black belt from Renato Magno / Street Sports Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Santa Monica in December of 2008.
