Rener Gracie
From OTMWiki
Rener was born on November 10, 1983. He earned his black belt the same day as his brother and also competed in the Southern California Pro-Am Invitational. He was the only one of 16 competitors to wear a gi in this gi-optional tournament and managed to take first place after submitting all of his opponents including 2004 BJJ World Champion Cassio Werneck and King of the Cage Champion Joe Stevenson. Rener competed in the 2003 Pan American Jiu-Jitsu Tournament and in the most exciting match of the competition submitted 2 time World Champion Fabio Leopoldo with his "bombard" sequence from the closed guard. His most recent achievement was in the 2005 Pan American Submission Grappling Tournament where he defeated all of his opponents placing him in the finals against his brother, Ryron. He lost in the finals by "triangle choke" earning him 2nd place, but the rumor is that he let his big brother win. Because of their unique talents and incredible technique, Ryron and Rener have both earned the "Diploma of Professor" from their grandfather, and because of his high standards, this is by far the world's most valuable type of recognition of one's skills as a jiu-jitsu instructor.
Today Rener spends the majority of his time teaching and training with his brother, Ryron for his debut NHB fight.
