Sanae Kikuta (born September 10,1971 in Nerima, Tokyo, Japan) is a Japanese mixed martial arts fighter.

Biography

Amateur era

He won the Kanto Middleweight class when he was in 3rd grade. He became a student at the "Super Tiger Gym" when he was in the 6th grade and later joined a Judo team at his high school where he won the 86kg class at the National Athletic Highschool Meeting. In university he learned Judo under Toshihiko Koga.

After high school he went to Australia to learn kickboxing. On his return he won the heavyweight class of the All Japan Amateur shoot boxing Championship.

In 1996 and 1997 he won the first "Tournament of J" which is an MMA tournament that allows matches wearing Keikogis (training uniforms).


Entry to Pancrase

He joined PANCRASE in April 1994 and fought his 3rd "UFC-J" in April 2000 and founded his own team "GRABAKA" ("Groundwork crazy") in June 2000. He participated in the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship in April 2001 and won its 88kg class. In September 2001 he won the title of PANCRASE Light Heavyweight Champion.

He has later founded the "GRABAKA" gym in Nakano, Tokyo.
