Lyoto Machida Out of Henderson Fight

Dan Henderson and Lyoto Machida were set to lock horns at the upcoming UFC on Fox 19 but was pulled from the card for an illegal substance. Now, he says it is a mistake and the substance was only made illegal in this year, but it has been banned since before the 2012 Olympics. This means at the highest level they do not allow it, but Machida continued to use it which just like the Anderson Silva failed test calls into question his legacy. Henderson was rightfully upset having the fight pulled on a few days notice and had some strong words for the former Light-Heavyweight champion. Henderson admitted to having nor expect for Machida.

Henderson was looking to rebound from a string of recent losses. Henderson has fallen to 2-6 in his past eight being finished four times and he is currently 1-3 in his past four. He was finished by Vitor Belfort again inches last fight. The rematch with Machida was coming after three years where they ran to a close split decision. This started henderson;s downward trend and made him lose his title shot that he had been promised. None the less, it is a major loss to a card that already had a shakeup in the main event. It is unknown what punishment will fall for Machida outside of losing this fight and if a suspension will be handed down. In fact, it is not known if he really even failed a drug test. Also, no one knows what will happen to Henderson but he will not be fighting on this card due to the short notice loss of his opponent but it may be possible to add him to another card if an injury happens or if someone is willing to jump in on short notice. What are your thoughts on machida’s failed drug test?
