Rousey vs Zingano confirmed for UFC 182 which is headlined by Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier.
Rousey vs Zingano is a fight that should have happened well over a year ago but till may be the toughest fight for Rousey.
Rousey vs Zingano was supposed to happen after Zingano bested Miesha Tate in April of 2013 and after they coached the first season of TUF with female fighters. The problem was that Zingano blew out her ACL days before the first episode of TUF was to be filmed and she was replaced by Tate. The rest is history but despite Dana White professing many times that she was still the number one contender, she had to fight her way back to the title fight. Zingano returned in September of this year and beat Amanda Nunes by TKO in the third round.
In that span of time, Rousey beat Miesha Tate, Sara McMann, and Alexis Davis, and she finished all of them. This brought Rousey’s undefeated record to 10-0 and Zingano has an unblemished record of 9-0 as well. This may not be the New Year’s card considering it is on January 3rd but it is a big fight card no matter when it takes place.
Besides having Rousey vs Zingano the fight card also has many other big matches. We have already spoke of the match between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier of the Light-Heavyweight title, but that is no all. Josh Burkman return to the UFC after a spectacular run through the WSOF, and he will take on none other than Hector Lombard. A pivotal Flyweight matchup will also take place between Kyoji Horiguchi and Louis Gaudinot. There are plenty of fights to be added to the first fight card of the year but few will look forward to any fight card more than Rousey vs Zingano.
