Neil Magny vs. Dong Hyun Kim
Magny came through big on his short notice fight and a lot of people are calling for him to return to the cage to fill back into his slot in January, but the issue is he just fought five rounds and was rocked terribly in the fourth round. Now, Dong Hyun Kim fights in a week against Dominic Waters and as long as he gets through that then he will be a perfect opponent for Magny. Kim has only lost to the best in Tyron Woodley, Demian Maia and Carlos Condit. If Magny can get past him he could truly enter the top five at 170.
Kelvin Gastelum vs. Matt Brown
Gastelum lost the fight but came close to winning. He had his opponent switched at the last minute and that had to be a big switch with Gastelum supposed to be facing Matt Brown. Even with the loss the brown fight could still be not he table. Yes, Brown is coming off a win, but he had two losses before that. A fight with Gastelum still makes sense.
Ricardo Lamas vs. Winner of Charles Oliveira vs. Myles Jury
Lamas is stuck in a hard spot, because he has only lost to the best in Chad Mendes and Jose Aldo, but he has beaten nearly everyone else. No win is going to help propel him farther with the rest of the division locked up, so a fight with the winner of Oliveira and Jury will have him playing the role of gatekeeper to the top five at 145.
Diego Sanchez vs. Gray Maynard
A fight between two fighters that should most likely be cut from the UFC, but a fight that will draw fans makes sense. Neither is going to touch the title so might as well have them fight each other.
Henry Cejudo vs. Joseph Benavidez
Yes, everyone is calling for Cejudo to go for the title, but he has done nothing to support that claim. Let him beat an actual top fighter at 125. If he can get past Benavidez then he deserves a title shot. In the meantime for the champion, he maybe gets a break so a real contender can come forth, or the really smart thing is a super fight with the winner of Cruz vs. Dillashaw.
Jussier Formiga vs. John Moraga
Both are very complete and competent fighters at 125, but they cannot get past the top few fighters who keep them from becoming a real threat at the division. Let them face off with each other to see who ends up being the person who will get another shot at those top contenders in the division.
