UFC 178 Predictions: Main Card
Demetrious Johnson vs. Chris Cariaso
Johnson is facing Cariaso only because his options are limited. His options are only limited because he has beaten everyone else in the division. Cariaso has been submitted twice in his career already, but the problem is that he has never even been in a five round fight. Johnson takes this by submission late in the third after he tires Cariaso.
Donald Cerrone vs. Eddie Alvarez
Eddie Alvarez is one tough individual and a lot of people are really worried about how his extended layoff will hurt him. The only problem is he has already came back from a year off to take a five round fight over the eager Michael Chandler. Now, he takes another extended layoff to take on one of the more active fighters in the UFC. The only problem with Cerrone is he wilts in big fights whether it be Nate Diaz or Anthony Pettis. Alvarez’s style will lead to a knockout victory in his UFC victory.
Dustin Poirier vs. Conor McGregor
McGregor is a self entitled fighter who has not been able to show he truly deserves all his praise. If Poirier fights like he normally does at these UFC 178 Predictions will show him flatlining. He needs to fight smarter which is what ATT should instill in him. Poirier is the more versatile fighter in this match and will take an unanimous decision victory.
Tim Kennedy vs. Yoel Romero
Kennedy is a great wrestler but the problem is that Romero is a phenomenal Olympic level fighter. He will be able to match Kennedy there and is way more dangerous standing up. Look for him to be able to match Kennedy until he knocks him out in the second round.
Cat Zingano vs. Amanda Nunes
Zingano is a tough fighter but she has had a long road back to the Octagon. Nunes on the other hand has been lighting up the cage with her fighting style. Nunes has the ability to stand with any fighter and that spells trouble for Zingano’s brawling style. Look for Nunes to steal enough rounds to pick up a decision win after a hard fought fight.
UFC 178 Predictions: Undercard
Dominick Cruz vs. Takeya Mizugaki
Crus, fingers crossed, finally returns to the octagon after taking too many years away from the cage. This was all due to injuries which hopefully have subsided for the time being. As long as Cruz return back to form this should be a fight he will win, and as long as that is the case, Mizugaki will not be able to hold him down to the ground. Cruz may not be 100 percent, but he will be able to win this fight by decision.
Jorge Masvidal vs. James Krause
Krause and Masvidal are in the same spot in the division and only one of them can make it back into the top 15 with a win. It is unfortunate that Krause won his last fight due to injury, because it is unknown who would have won that fight. Both can end this fight standing or on the ground, but in a fight between brawlers it is all Masvidal’s fight to lose. He is going to take this fight by submission in the first round after hurting Krause standing.
