UFC News a top Light-Heavyweight fighter nearly set his return as well, but that was an early release. Still it is a good sign when a top five fighter returns to the Octagon.

UFC News: Fight Announcements

Alexis Dufresne vs. Marion Reneau

At UFC 182, Dufresne returns after her first professional loss to TUF alum Sarah Moras. She will take on Reneau who is a newcomer with 4-1 record outside of the Octagon. It can put one of them on the path to getting in the top 15 in a relatively weak women’s bantamweight division.

UFC Fight Night 61 fights

Sam Alvey will look to put himself on a two fight win streak when he takes on TUF winner Cezar Ferreira. Alvey earned a huge knockout in his last fight over another TUF veteran in Dylan Andrews. Ferreira righted the ship with a win over Andrew Craig. One will continue their winning ways while one will take a step closer to leaving the UFC.

Rustam Khabilov faces Adriano Martins after his first loss in the Octagon to former champion Benson Henderson. Martins has looked stellar so far as well outside of his loss to Donald Cerrone. Both took huge steps up in competition and with another win or two may be ready for another shot at a fighter in the top 15.

Matt Dwyer takes on William Macario

Dwyer did not impress in his debut getting knocked out in about a minute by a head kick. he has a chance to prove himself when he takes on Macario who has been only a little more impressive having been finished in two of his UFC fights. It is very likely the loser of this fight loses his contract as well.

UFC News: Fighter Returns

Glover Teixeira vs. Rashad Evans

Potential for Evans to fight at UFC Fight Night 61 after over a year and a half off. He has been out due to injury and still sits in the top five of the 205 division. Teixeira is still in the top five as well even after losing two straight fights. Evans and Teixeira both should not be there but one will earn their spot after taking each other on potential.

Dustin Poirier returns to the lightweight division. He says that he walks around at 180 and the cut to 145 is too much. Poirier made his featherweight debut when he entered the UFC with an 8-1 record and while he has been close to a title shot he has gone 8-3. He is only 25 and the cut will only be harder, so it may be the right time to make this shift anyway.

That is the UFC news for December 18th.
