Hawthorne, Ca – House of Champions Academy of Martial Arts fighter Eddie Mendez would get his first win of his young career Saturday submitting fellow TFA veteran Aaron Birn in the main event that evening. From the sound of the bell the match would be a barn burner as both would engage in brawling exchanges early on but as the fight wore on Birn (2-0) would seem to get the better of Mendez (1-0-1). Mendez however would turn the tide by taking his opponent to the ground and work the top position with punches until Birn would turn to his belly exposing his neck giving Mendez the rear naked choke. In the co main even Diego Bautista would keep his winning streak alive as he would decision Anthony Smith in a three round war. For three round both fighters would exchange punches and while Smith (2-2) quickness would seem to get the better of Bautista (3-0) it would be the leg kicks of Bautista that would even the battle out on the feet. On the ground both would score takedowns and scramble for the top position but it would be Bautista who would use it to land the better strikes, cutting Smith and making an impression on the judges. In the end as the bell would sound it would be Bautista’s ground work which would give the victory. In bantamweight action new comer PKG team member Marcus Kowal would overwhelm team Subfighter’s David Ghobria. Off the bat both would come out swinging for the fences landing combination after combination but as the fight would wear on it would be Kowal would take over the fight. Coming out strong in the second he would land a hard right hand followed by a vicious front kick that would flatten Ghobrial (1-0-1). Seeing that he was hurt Kowal would keep the pressure with punches from the standing position that would force the ref to call the fight with less then thirty seconds left in the round. Using good jujitsu skills InvincibleFC veteran Nick willerts (4-2) would catch his opponent team Subfighter Isaac Gutierrez (3-0) in a guillotine choke in less then one round of action. In Welterweight action John Mercurio (0-1) would get the first win of his career stopping Greg Gagnon (0-1) via punches late in the second round. Last minute replacement and new comer Roberto Barros would use a vicious right hand to KO his opponent Joseph Allison (1-0) in just only nine seconds. Finally on the card that night Carlos Garces would out point fellow new comer Ulises Figueroa in a three round war.
